The Drone Didi Scheme, formally known as the Namo Drone Didi Scheme, is an initiative announced in the Union Budget 2024–25 with the goal of training over 15,000 women in rural India to become drone pilots. These women, called Drone Didis, will be trained in handling agricultural drones to help local farmers with crop monitoring, pesticide spraying, and precision farming. The scheme serves multiple purposes: Empowerment: Women gain high-tech skills and become part of the agri-tech revolution. Entrepreneurship: Trained Drone Didis can operate drone rental services, creating a sustainable income. Innovation in Agriculture: By using drones, farmers get access to precision farming techniques, reducing chemical use and increasing crop yields. At mPower, we see this as a win-win: rural development meets technology, and women become the driving force behind a smarter agricultural future.
